Mark Zumwalt
March 31, 1958 – March 19, 2024

Mark was a big bear of a man from the Union area. That’s where he met the love of his life – Miss Beth. They were so good together. He worked in powerhouse mechanics at McDonell-Douglas/Boeing when an accident damaged his arm and he could no longer work. He could fix almost anything from boilers and AC units to Beth’s scooter.

Mark was his Webelos leader for their son, Andrew. He was there with Andrew every step of the way to his Eagle. One of the pinnacles of Scouting activities is to go to Philmont, and Mark and Andrew went twice. Mark was the Pack/Troop quartermaster for years. They were a well-oiled machine working together to get the job done. They served as quartermasters for District camporees and events like Klondike and Call of the Wild.

He was a Merit Badge Counselor for Outdoor Cooking – of course. But he could be found at Beaumont Scout Reservation teaching Cubs how to make rope. He and Greg Webb were well known for making Stone Soup at the Catholic Cub Day. He earned his Bronze Pelican Award from the Catholic Committee on Scouting. He was awarded the Pathfinder District Award of Merit and the Council Silver Beaver Award.
